Brandon Basey's fascination with street art was kickstarted in 2013 when he began taking notice of graffiti and murals in the backgrounds of movies and video games set in New York City, a world away from the suburbs of Austin where he was raised. Basey (b. 2003) began practicing and developing his own voice, using white boards at school and home as his canvas. While he dreamed of tagging walls, Basey pivoted to paper and stickers instead, honoring his mom's desire to keep him out of trouble. Basey's paintings poke fun at commercialism and societal  norms.
